We all know the importance of hydration for our dogs and puppies.
Water not only regulates their body temperature, when they lose water through evaporation during panting, but importantly it also facilitates the metabolic processes, from digestion to brain activity, blood flow and breathing.

WHEN TO USE DOGGYRADE & DOGGYRADE PRO

General Exercise and Conditioning

DoggyRade can become part of your regular exercise and conditioning regimen.

Outside of competition or exhibition, it is crucial to maintain good condition through exercise and conditioning. Even during the quieter periods, maintaining peak body condition for dogs of all ages is highly beneficial. We choose the best nutrition for our dogs but if their digestive system is not operating at its optimum level the benefits of that nutrition can be significantly reduced. The prebiotics in DoggyRade help feed the good gut flora, which optimise the nutritional uptake from their daily feed and the balanced electrolytes help maintain healthy hydration.

Breeding and Lactation

During whelping and lactation, hydration is even more important for your bitch. Mum is not only supporting her own hydration needs but also producing milk for her pups, so her water intake requirements can increase depending on the litter size. Without adequate hydration, your bitch may not develop enough milk or leave herself dehydrated during lactation.

Some dogs may not be enthusiastic about water alone and may need some encouragement to drink enough during these periods of high demand.

DoggyRade and DoggyRade Pro were developed to provide digestive support and correct hydration. The balance of electrolytes and prebiotics can help them stay hydrated even during the times of the highest demand.

You can introduce DoggyRade during the last couple of weeks of pregnancy as a tasty treat. The prebiotics can help her digestive system get the most out of the nutrition that you provide, and she will love the taste.

As soon as your bitch gives birth, the demand for milk begins, so it is vitally important that she drinks enough. Whilst DoggyRade is not intended to replace water, regular drinks of DoggyRade will help your bitch’s milk production, she will stay hydrated, and her digestive system can be optimised.

How much and how often?

The answer depends on various factors from the size of dog to the size of the litter, so there is no hard and fast rule, but your bitch should be able to drink as regularly as she wants. For small and toy breeds, our packaging is re-sealable and can be kept refrigerated once opened so a 500ml pouch split over the course of a day will help.

For larger breeds and larger litter sizes providing up to four or five DoggyRade 500ml pouches a day to be given at regular intervals. The additional electrolytes and prebiotics provide vital extra nutritional and intestinal support.

DoggyRade should be provided right up until the pups are weaned but as demand for milk decreases you can decrease the amount you give although mum may not thank you for it!

Can my puppies have DoggyRade?

DoggyRade is intended for use from six weeks of age, but you may well find that your pups are fascinated by it and will want to share mum’s DoggyRade. This is fine, they will love it as much as she does.

DoggyRade is low in fat and calories, so is not a substitute for food, but during weaning the addition of a little DoggyRade to the puppy’s solid food will almost certainly make the transition to solids a little easier. In addition, prebiotics can help the digestive system adapt to the rapid changes from mothers’ milk to food.

Can DoggyRade help with dog/ puppy upset stomach?

We all know that changes in diet, environment, stress and even water can cause an upset tummy in dogs/ pups. It is critically important that your dog/puppy always stays hydrated, especially if they are experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea. With diarrhea, they can very quickly become dehydrated, in some cases as quickly as a couple of hours.

Water alone is not enough during these times; electrolytes are essential to retain fluids. DoggyRade and DoggyRade Pro (for more severe cases) can provide much-needed electrolytes to aid in quick recovery from stomach upsets, and the added prebiotics can aid in the digestive system’s recovery.

Puppy’s New Home

One challenge facing breeders is that many puppies when going to their new homes will suffer a period of upset tummy, either from the stress of leaving the nest and littermates, travel or from a change of water which can be very common.

In addition, most new owners will find their own feeding routine which can also upset the puppy in its new home. The added support of DoggyRade during these crucial periods can be very effective to help them settle in.

Why not reduce the worry and send your puppy off to its new home with a couple of pouches of DoggyRade and let the new owners know how it can help?

Puppy won’t eat.

Once in their new homes many puppies will show signs of inappetence. It is probably just the stress of change, but this can be a very concerning time for new owners and breeders who will inevitably worry about it.

Most breeders know that this is common and it will be just a matter of time before the appetite returns but it would be useful for them to be able to explain that using DoggyRade or YummyRade as a meal topper can be advantageous rather than looking for an alternative diet.

DoggyRade and YummyRade are the perfect healthy and tasty treats here to encourage dogs to eat and drink when arriving at new homes.

Competitors & Exhibitors

Travel Stress

Very often as competitors/exhibitors our dogs spend a lot of time in our vehicles. Modern air conditioning can help keep them cool, but at the same time it can also add to the loss of hydration. Air conditioning removes humidity leaving the air dry, so it is vital that this be replaced in the dog and ourselves. Travel stress can also cause bouts of temporary diarrhea or travel sickness.

Pack a few DoggyRade pouches in your essential travel kit for quick hydration and intestinal support.

Competitive Support

As competitors in canine related sports such as canicross or sledding, our dogs expend a lot of energy and require rapid hydration post competition. DoggyRade has been proven to increase fluid intake by four times compared to water alone. The electrolytes aid in moisture retention and they maintain the balance of fluids within the body’s cells and muscles which is extremely important post exercise or exertion. DoggyRade is low in fat and low in calories so will not add to their calorific intake.

Show Dogs

Whilst show dogs do not expend energy in the same way as sporting dogs, the stresses of travel to shows, the preparation for exhibition and long days can add their own challenges. How often have we returned from shows to find the dogs exhausted? Not from excessive exercise but from the whole event.

Give your dog a hydration boost during the day with DoggyRade and afterwards helping them recover quickly from the excitement of competition.
